Located southeast of the downtown core and near the junction of the Bow and Elbow Rivers, much of Ramsay is situated on the sloping terrain of "Scotsman's Hill". The name "Scotsman Hill" came about as a result of large numbers of people watching the Stampede activities from the hill in order to avoid paying the admission charge. The residential area of the community is divided into two distinct areas by Spiller Road. The area west of Spiller Road, including "Scotsman's Hill", has vistas of the mountains and the downtown and has seen residential redevelopment over the years. While the area east of Spiller Road is primarily older homes. A substantial industrial area exists on the eastern edge of Ramsay.
